Relicblade Bone and Darkness

Relicblade Bone and Darkness

I have admired Sean Sutter's Relicblade line for years. I have several packs overseas in storage, but I really wanted some decent adventurer sculpts for my latest foray into 28mm solo skirmish.

This is most of the "Bone and Darkness" faction, minus the big construct monster. Relicblade minis are all metal, so it will require some pinning and I don't currently have a pin vise handy, so it will have to wait a bit.

I'm theming my current project in a doom metal "Mork Borg" style, and am trying out some new techniques. The skeletons were done with basecoat of Army painter skeletal bone, then treated with AK interactive streaking grime... An enamel based weathering compound cleaned up with white spirit.

It gave an really appealing result IMO. The models pictured only had a single highlight pass with the base color after the streaking grime! I could do a final spot highlight with 50/50 bone and white, but I think they look great as-is.

The non-bone areas were also hit with the streaking grime, but also liberal application of good ol' Nuln oil wash. I wanted the armor to be really dilapidated looking, so it only got a tiny highlight after all the grime.

The evil looking warpstone-ish parts on the sculpts begged for a little OSL, which was just painted on with army painter greenskin and a jungle green highlight.

In the drying time, I have been working on an inexpensive (and I mean DIRT CHEAP) terrain set that will feature in a post later in the week! Exciting!

    1. Thanks! I have only dabbled in OSL technique on 15mm scale so it's fun on larger models!
