Skräckfält episode 2: A perilous escape

A late post.

Last Friday we played our second game of Sellswords and spellslingers.

After bilking the town out of it's bounty silver, Sir Arvant, Gal'grax and their band of miscreants decide to flee in the dead of night, as the townsfolk give chase.

We played the "across the badlands" scenario, which seems to give a lot of first timers a rough time, if online reports are anything to go by. The victory condition was to make it off the opposite board edge, across a bushy field stocked with tough brutes and a troll.

It was indeed a tense affair, with Gnolls jumping out of bushes and appearing at the table edge often. The decisions around balancing movement, ranged combat and melee was constantly engaging.

Rainfall in the early stages gave way to 2  Mana Fluxes, which made spellcasting very easy in the late game. Nevertheless, the two trolls guarding the exit proved a deadly challenge... But the horde of hooded townsfolk flooding the deployment area put us between a hammer and anvil and the only choice was to move forwards!

In the final stages, a melee ensued. Sutter went down quickly after rushing to support sir Arvant, who took a fireball along with the troll for the team. His L3 armor saved him from the worst of it, and Trunk joined the fray. Together they finished off the singed troll and the party made a final desperate dash to the exit, with Gal'grax carrying Posh's comatose body.

Neither PC group looted much, as we were conscious of sticking together yo cover each other, and not dilly-dallying around. Sir Arvant did swoop the troll's treasure out from under Gal'grax, but gifted him a fireball scroll to even things up.

Another cracking game, we only used one camera this time and I had the rules printed out, which made things less complicated and smoother.

I also made an event deck sized to standard sleeves, and designed to make the various outcomes and rules more readable. They worked very nicely!

I haven't done much hobbying this week, but I've been painting up some fresh 15mm sci fi models and also building some classic farm terrain for this weeks game. I'll post a quick tutorial once it's finished!

  1. This is a great looking battle report, that table mat and your dollar store plant clusters really work well together.

    1. Thank you! A lot more stuff happened, but I find battle reports exhausting to write up so it was more of a battle summary ;)
