Converting "Gulper"
One of Justin's party members in our campaign is "Gulper". He's skilled with a sword (allegedly) and carries a buckler. He also has the Heavy Drinker trait... Appropriate for our alchemist.
So far, Gulper has showed up drunk or hung over to 75% of our sessions. He has also failed to hit anything with his sword while attacking, although has displayed amazing survivability due to his buckler.
Thus, some conversions were called for. Firstly, his sword hand was removed and replaced with a tankard to commemorate his struggles with alcohol. A sword was attached to his belt, where it presumably remains during play.
Lastly, some blood was splattered onto his trusty buckler, representing all the minions he has dispatched by bashing in their heads with it.
His paint job is still very quick and dirty "Minion" level, so I may spend some time tidying it up if he lives long enough. I managed to capture a lot of shine in these poor photos, he looks a lot less wet IRL. Then again, given his character, maybe wet is correct.
Converting minis during a campaign is something I haven't done since the old days of 1st ed Necromunda, when chopping up gang members was almost a weekly occurrence. In that case it was a little annoying, but in this semi-rpg we are playing, it is more like a tribute to a memorable character that will last probably longer than his in-game lifespan.
But who knows? Maybe Gulper will only get stronger and will eventually earn a new, less dirty-boy mini altogether.
